Day 27 in the January Blog a Day challenge is A Surprise! Well, SURPRISE, we bought a goldfish yesterday. Mostly because we were bored.
Here’s Sweetey Petey picking one out.
The chosen one.
First car ride.
Getting acclimated.
New home.
Adoring fans.
Deciding on a name.
And lastly . . .
I have to paint the wall behind the tank first so who knows when Gil will get out of the apartment and into the mansion.
To catch up on my January Blog a Day posts:
Day 16: I would do anything for love . . . but I won’t do that
Day 21: Mood board, er salad. Definitely mood salad.

Question of the Day: Have you ever owned a fish? What was its name?

We keep saying we’re going to buy Cupcake a fish but we haven’t done it, yet. The last fish we owned was a Beta fish that I had in college. It moved to Ohio with us. It moved into the house with us. It was like 5 years old when it died! It’s name was Fish.

Fish is an excellent name for a fish. Our last Beta was named Fishy Tail. Perhaps they were cousins.
Holy mackerel, I don’t mean to carp but on a scale of one to fin I’d give these fishy tails a five. I had too much thyme on my hands and just typed this for the halibut. Hope I didn’t come across as being too crabby – if so just tuna me out.
As Chief Technical Officer here at MidwesternBite, I might as well go and disable future comments.
Dad wins.
He always does, doesn’t he?
Mike wants to know how long it took you to write this comment? I think we all want to know this.
It took me about five minnows. I floundered with it for the first two, then finally said “what the eel”.
Hahahaha…you are too cute, Dad-in-law!
He’s modest too. He was shocked when I actually posted this! He just randomly e-mails me posts when he’s in the mood and he didn’t think it would make the cut. Silly Father-in-Law. I’m not one to censor comedy gold.
I LOVE the name. Good luck with him not dying … I can never get goldfish to stay alive.

True that. Fortunately they are also quite cheap!
I never had a fish. Definitely cool and I hope you post updates.

Really? No fish? Any pets at all? Maybe a cat?
Several cats and one dog.

I knew you had a cat at some point. We did too.

I had betas in college (yes, more than one). The first one was Fish. Then my friends got me another one. So I had Red Fish and Blue Fish. And had to keep them in separate fish bowls. Pain. In. The. Ass. But it was fun to set them up against the mirror on my dresser and make them think they were threatened by another male beta!
Love the names! I’ve only ever had one beta at a time but I bet the fake fighting would be fun.
