. . . but my sister was.  At least for a little while.

Ballerina PM RW

I don’t know that this particular phase lasted all that long in her life but there is clearly photographic evidence that at one point she had ballerina aspirations.

I just watched a Glee episode where Sarah Jessica Parker’s character said that all little girls dream of being a ballerina when they are little.  I can’t recall every having that dream specifically but I did like to dance around the house.  I might still like to.  Shhhhhh don’t tell.

While we’re here and because at some point you all might start to get bored with these Throwback Thursday posts, here’s another cute one of me and my sis.

Sisters PM RW

Dang I was cute, wasn’t I???  And those pigtails?  To die for.  I hope I can master the art of doing a little girl’s hair.  I stink at my own and this is definitely one fear I have of having a girl.

Must.  Master.  The.  Pigtail.

Question of the Day:  Did you want to be a ballerina when you were little?  The guys can answer this one too if they want . . . I look forward to whatever funny witticism the Father-in-Law comes up with here.

It’s Throwback Thursday!!!!  Or as I like to call it a super cold Monday in January.  You all remember I scheduled these ahead of time right?  Well, it’s super cold today.  As in negative degrees.  As in potentially record setting (at least for the last 20 years or so.)  I’m cool (ha!) with that though because The Husband’s work was closed for the day so we have an extended weekend.  We are house bound due to the cold (Sweetey Petey doesn’t need to be subjected to that thankyouverymuch) so there is probably a lot of playing and reading books on tap for today.  Maybe a movie if the toddler gets curmudgeonly.

So, anyway, here is a picture of my very first pets!  That’s Charlie Brown on the left.  That dog had a bark that could scare away any door-to-door salesperson lickety split.  I swear he sounded like a pit bull.  On the right was MY first pet, Frisky.  Charlie was around before my sister and I were born and he never took too much of a hankering to us.  He mostly tolerated us.

Frisky was a guinea pig.  I thought he was a he until we tagged along to one of Charlie Brown’s veterinary visits.  Frisky had a small growth on his belly and for something like $7 our vet agreed to take a look at him.  And promptly informed us he was a she.  I forget what happened with the growth exactly.  Riveting story, no?

Here’s another fun one of me and my sister with Charlie Brown.

He’s giving my sister a big ol’ sloppy kiss so maybe he liked us after all.  By the way the little hill in our front yard was great for sledding!

Question of the Day:  What was your first pet?  What was its name?

I would like to preface by explaining I am writing this post at the risk of sounding ungrateful. Which I’m not. It’s just gonna sound that way. So, cut me an inch of slack and bear with me for a bit. Okay? Okay.

When we found out we were having a little Sweetey Petey, our family and friends were amazing; little Pete was so loved before he was even born. Thoughtful gestures abounded! We had several home repairs in the works that needed completed before Pete was born and our time became limited. This included an entire basement spruce, as well as new flooring in the kitchen and dining room. My mom painted our finished basement. A close friend spent two days helping the Husband lay Pergo down there. Co-workers lent tools. My Father-in-law found us a contractor when ours flaked out and drove from hours away to replace baseboards and help install the floors in the kitchen to save time.

A friend picked up the crib for us in his truck because it wouldn’t fit in our car. Another friend helped carry the crib upstairs. His wife lent me maternity clothes and books and baby slings. They brought us food when the Pete was born.

There were gifts, thoughtful presents from close and far. My sister sent all her gently used baby gear as well as three years of clothes. We had two generous showers to help with the necessities. Many of these gifts were handmade with love!! To list just a few:
