The good.  The bad.  And the chocolate.

I probably should have started with the chocolate to keep your attention but oh well.

1. The Good

I’ve been planning the nursery lately and it’s been all kinds of fun.

I ordered a neutral rug for the room that can be used elsewhere in the house if the babe demands a Pepto Bismol pink pad someday.

There is a lot going on with the art I’ve picked and I didn’t want the rug to compete.

There’s a dimensional balloon piece, a Fox and The Hound print from my room when I was a kid . .

as well as four fox prints . . .

from a whimsical artist I found on Etsy, Kristiana Parn.  Love her.  Seriously.  Click here for a link to her shop.

2.  The Bad

We need a new heat pump for the house.  Needed actually, they installed it yesterday.

Christmas is cancelled!  Okay not really, but the Christmas budget is being watched like a hawk and lots of gifts will be DIYed this year.  Fortunately it turned out we only had to replace half the unit at half the cost.  But half a crap ton of money is still kind of a crap ton of money.

3.  The Chocolate

I’m trying not to get too attached to this chocolate because it’s no longer in the budget for awhile but Theo chocolate rocks.

I’ve worked my way through the Nutcracker Brittle . . .

and the Coconut Mint so far.

I still have the Peppermint Stick . . .

and the Gingerbread Spice left to go.

I prefer dark chocolate and love mint so I think the Peppermint Stick is going to be my favorite.

So there it is.  The good, the bad and the chocolate around these parts.

P.S.  I’m super excited about Thrift Gift Facelift next week although I’m a bit (a little DIY humor for you) nervous about drilling holes into stainless steel.  Mr. Google tells me it’s tricky.  My friend Dave says it’s doable so we’ll see how it turns out next week.

Question of the Day: Dark or milk chocolate?  Mint or no?

  1. I saw that chocolate at the store yesterday and had food sounded good I might have bought some. I think the Peppermint Stick one would be my favorite, too. Dark and mint. Yum.

  2. you know Theo is from Seattle…if I still lived there you would have a connection right from the source. Yet another reason to add to the list for me to move back there….

    • I was surprised when our big chain grocery had it! Usually I can find it at the local specialty place but for way more money. These were $2 a bar which I thought was fabulous.

  3. Mmmm. I love those bars. You’ll have to let me know what you think of the Gingerbread one. The peppermint is quite tasty.

    • Mike and I finished the Gingerbread flavor off in one day. One. Okay more like a few hours. I was a BIG fan. It’s my favorite of the three I’ve had so far. I’m saving the Peppermint for Christmas.

  4. Love the stuff you’re picking for the baby’s nursery. It’s tough to do neutral without going super green or yellow or gross. Nice work.

BOOO HISSSS on the pump. I chipped a veneer the other day and my eyes got better (which would be a good thing except I have to buy all new gear), so there goes my holiday budget too!

    Dark chocolate. Lots of mint.

    • I saw your tweet about your veneer. That stinks big time.

I adore Etsy for unique art and pieces. I don’t want my kids growing up staring at mass produced art from Walmart.
